General

What is DevPulse AI?

A desktop toolbar for developers who work with AI coding agents such as Claude Code. It shows every file the agent changes in real time, lets you approve edits before they are written, tracks spend per model and session, and shows your Claude plan limits — in a mini-pill that stays on screen.

Do I need to change how I work?

No. You keep using your terminal, editor and agent as usual. DevPulse reads what the agent already logs and watches the project folder. Approving edits beforehand is optional and takes one click to set up.

Does it replace Claude Code or my editor?

No. It sits alongside them. It does not generate code by itself; it makes what the agent does visible and controllable.

Is it free?

Yes, it is free to download and use. A Pro plan with extra features may be announced in the future; people who sign up on the download page and opt in to news will be told first.

Privacy and data

Does my code leave my computer?

No. Diffs, snapshots, history and spend live in a local SQLite database. The only default external call is the daily exchange rate. Features that use an AI model (commit message with AI, AI actions, evals on the model, token count via API) only send data when you click them, with your own key, and the text is sanitized first.

Where are my API keys stored?

In the operating system keychain (Windows Credential Manager, Secret Service/GNOME Keyring on Linux). The app database keeps only a label and the last characters.

Is there telemetry?

Only if you turn it on (Settings → Privacy). It is off by default.

What do you do with my email?

It unlocks the download, lets us count downloads and, if you opt in, lets us tell you about new versions. It is never sold or shared. See the privacy policy — you can ask for deletion at any time.

Agents and integrations

Which agents are supported?

Claude Code has the deepest integration: sessions, cost, context, intent, chat and pre-approval of edits through hooks. Any other tool still shows up in the live diff (DevPulse watches the files), in spend if it calls the API through the local proxy, and in the Kill Switch if you register its process.

How does the approval gate work?

DevPulse installs HTTP hooks in ~/.claude/settings.json. Before each edit, Claude Code asks DevPulse; you accept, request changes or reject. If you do not answer in time, or if DevPulse is closed, Claude Code carries on normally. Details in the tutorial.

Can I talk to the agent from DevPulse?

Yes. The agent card in the Diff Inspector shows the session conversation and lets you send messages to the same session. Ctrl+M opens a large, draggable chat box.

What is the Kill Switch?

An emergency button that stops the agent processes you registered (and their children) and interrupts sessions waiting for approval. It asks for confirmation unless you enable emergency mode.

Spend and limits

How is spend calculated?

From the real token counts in the agent transcripts multiplied by the price table (values marked “~” are estimates), and from the exact cost of calls that go through the proxy. You can reconcile with the cost Anthropic reports using an admin key.

I use a subscription (Pro/Max). Why do I see spend?

For subscription plans, the value is the equivalent API cost. It is useful to compare models and sessions and to understand your usage, even if you are not billed per token.

Where do plan limits come from?

From your Claude account, using the login Claude Code already has on your computer. DevPulse shows the 5-hour session window and the weekly limits (all models and per model), refreshed at most once a minute.

Why are values in reais?

DevPulse was built for Brazilian developers: costs are converted from dollars at the Central Bank PTAX rate, optionally with card fees. A fixed rate can be set in Settings.

Installation and platforms

Which systems are supported?

Windows 10/11 (64-bit) and 64-bit Linux with WebKitGTK 4.1 (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+ and derivatives). macOS is not available yet.

Windows shows “Windows protected your PC”. Is it safe?

The warning appears because the installer is not yet signed with a paid certificate. Click “More info → Run anyway”. You can verify the file against the SHA-256 shown on the download page.

The app froze right after installing on Linux.

On GNOME/Wayland, the first launch shows a system dialog asking to allow the global shortcuts; while it is open, the screen does not respond. Find it with Alt+Tab and answer it.

How do I update?

Download the new version from the download page and install it over the old one. Your data and settings are kept.
